ENG. The kitchen that we can see on the Instagram profile of nettle.home struck me for its minimal design, dominated by a large black top on the wall above the hob that does not go unnoticed.

ITA. In un primo momento avevo erroneamente pensato che si trattasse di una grande lavagna nera dove fosse possibile appuntare la lista della spesa o realizzare dei disegni e delle scritte. Ma andando a cercare altre foto di questa cucina, ho scoperto che in realtà quel grande rettangolo nero nasconde in realtà diverse ante in cui è possibile riporre ingredienti e stoviglie.
Il colore scuro e opaco aiuta a nascondere le linee di separazione delle ante, mentre la parte sottostante permette di inserire delle luci che illuminano il piano di lavoro.
La parte superiore del top della cucina è realizzata in piani di listelli di legno assemblati che danno un senso di movimento all’area, altrimenti dominata solo dal bianco e dal nero.
Sebbene visivamente i listelli di legno sembrano creare un top unico, ad una seconda occhiata è possibile vedere chiaramente dove i diversi piani si incastrano – se guardate l’angolo al centro, dove il top scende a pavimento, si vede chiaramente lo spessore del top superiore contro cui il piano laterale va a chiudere quel lato dell’isola.
ENG. At first I mistakenly thought that it was a large black board where it was possible to write down the shopping list or make drawings and writings. But looking at more photos of this kitchen, I found that in reality that big black rectangle actually hides several cabinets’ doors in which you can store ingredients and dishes.
The dark and opaque color helps to hide the dividing lines of the doors, while the underlying part allows you to insert lights that illuminate the worktop.
The upper part of the kitchen top is made of assembled wooden slats that give a sense of color to this area, otherwise dominated only by black and white.
Although visually the wooden slats seem to create a single top, on a second glance you can clearly see where the different tops fit together – if you look at the corner in the center, where the top drops to the floor, you can clearly see the thickness of the top, against which the lateral plane closes that side of the island.
